FAQ – Art book

Which format is best for an art book?

Art books are usually printed in A4 or in square or landscape formats to give photography and illustration room. The configurator offers A4 and A5 in portrait or landscape; custom sizes such as 210 × 210 mm or 240 × 300 mm are quoted on request. Paperback (perfect bound) or hardcover (case bound), with optional dust jacket and slipcase.

How many pages can my art book have?

Paperback (perfect bound) books run from 44 to 300 pages online. Below 44 pages the spine is too thin to glue reliably; above 300 pages, ask for a custom quote.

Which sizes and papers can I choose?

A4 or A5, portrait or landscape, from the configurator; square and custom sizes on quote. Text pages: uncoated (offset) paper, white or cream, or matt or gloss coated paper for illustrated books, in the weights listed by the configurator (typically 80 to 170 gsm). Cover: 250 to 350 gsm board with matt, gloss or soft-touch lamination. FSC or PEFC certified papers available on request.

What quantities can I order?

From 100 copies, up to 2,500 copies online. Above that: on quote.

What is the lead time?

The production time is shown in the configurator as soon as your document is fully specified, before you order, and it is confirmed on the order. A shorter lead time is sometimes possible depending on the configuration and the production schedule at the time of ordering: state your date in a custom quote request.

Are my files checked, and do I get a proof?

Yes. Every file is checked by our prepress team before printing: trim size, bleed, resolution, page count and spine width. An online proof is sent before production; printing starts after your approval.

Where do you deliver?

Delivery across Europe. Outside Europe: possible depending on the product, on quote. Every parcel is tracked, and delivery in mainland France is free.

Our prepress team reviews every file before production — verifying image resolution, colour profiles, margins, pagination, and spine setup. An online proof is sent before production; printing starts after your approval. Need help with layout or pagination? We support you in achieving the best visual rhythm, harmony, and hierarchy across your pages.

Popular formats for art books include square (210 × 210 mm or 240 × 240 mm), oversized portrait (240 × 300 mm), or custom dimensions. Binding options include perfect bound, section sewn or hardcover with layflat finishes. We also offer creative formats like landscape books or uncoated art paper finishes.

Choose from satin-coated, matt or textured papers; embossing, hot foil, spot UV or soft-touch lamination — even for shorter runs. Print from 100 to 2,500 copies online (from 10 copies in hardcover); larger runs on quote. Delivery across Europe. Outside Europe: possible depending on the product, on quote.

1

Slipcases & presentation boxes

For premium editions, we offer custom slipcases, clamshell boxes and multi-volume cases. These not only protect your art book but also enhance its perceived value and presence on display. Available in various materials and finishes, our slipcases can be printed, hot-foiled or embossed to match your visual identity.

2

Certified papers

FSC or PEFC certified papers available on request. Say so when you request a quote: the paper is then specified on the quotation and the certification mention can be printed on the document.

3

Why print still matters in art

Printed art books remain essential objects — collectible, tactile, and enduring. They offer a curated experience, complementing digital platforms and bringing depth to exhibitions, galleries, fairs, or private collections. A beautifully printed book gives your work new life and broader reach.

4

Lead times and delivery
